Announcing DUI check points in the Radio legal or illegal?

I live in California they have DUI check points here all the time I think the check points are great I have a son and glad that they have these check points Put I hear on the radio that they announce were the check points are EXACTLY were It bother me so much they are telling drunk driver were to avoid Is this legal what can I do to stop this Also they say it like this "There are checking for license in this street have your paper ready and on hand" they use other words but they are still saying So what can I do? I want to do something? One of these drunk driver can kill me,my son,my husband or someone else

While many may debate the legality of DUI checkpoints, what can NEVER be debated is the absolute right to disseminate public FREE SPEECH over the airwaves.

There are specific cases where information may be impeded legally under national security law, a DUI checkpint location certainly does NOT qualify, and if it ever does then that should be the point in time when armed revolt against the state should be undertaken.

I'm personally happy that drunks and unlicensed drivers are reguarly removed via DUI checkpoints. I hope they lose their cars, actually, BUT, the day we lose the right to FREE SPEECH is the day that life in these United States is worthless and indefensible.

It is legal for them to announce the checkpoints on the radio. For the most part the drunk drivers either don't hear or don't remember the announcements anyway.

In response to the individual counseling others that 'random DUI stops are illegal', I would suggest a reading of the decision of the Supreme Court in "MICHIGAN DEP'T OF STATE POLICE v. SITZ, 496 U.S. 444 (1990)" might be in order. Random DUI checkpoints have been and will continue to be upheld as legal.

Cops freely give out that information and send press releases to the radio and newspapers. It won't matter much because drunks are notoriously stupid and the first thing that goes is good judgment.

Random DUI stops are illegal anyway. I live in Florida and the last time I got in a DUI stop, I asked the officer under what authority does he have the right to pull me over for no reason whatsoever. He simply let me go. More Americans should do this! It hinders on our civil liberties. DUI stops should only be made if a driver is under suspicion of being under in influence (weaving, crashing into another car, etc). By pulling over law abiding citizens, they're hurting social drinkers, not alcoholics. Habeas Corpus is around for a reason.

Now the law enforcement people wouldn't be sneaky and have other alternate routes with check points set up would they.
See large signs here all the time with check point ahead.
On the next exit from freeway ahead of where it is suppose to be there they are

Legal. Its a constitutional right to travel w/out implications imposed. Posting up check point is really taking away our rights. And what did cops ask for in germany before the holocaust (Let me see your papers/ID) And it CAN happen to us. Sure those road blocks xcaqn save a life or two but it's not illegal in any means.

This is the way it is everywhere in the country. I don't agree with it at all either. However, they feel that people who are that drunk won't remember what they heard on the radio or on TV.

I completely agree with you though, they shouldn't advertise these kind of things, but there is nothing you can do.
