did you have a field sobriety test? Did they want you to blow in a breathalyzer? Did you have a good story to convince the officer of your sobriety? What had you been drinking?

A very long time ago I was stopped for going through a red light. I did it, no question. The officer was right there at the intersection.
I was pretty trashed and if the officer didn't smell it on me, then he must have had severe nasal congestion.
But I was very polite, respectful and at least tried to act straight. He didn't do anything to me, told me to get home.
That was a different time and atmosphere. I know I couldn't get away with that these days.
And, I have learned a lesson and no longer drink and drive. |

I was once a passenger of a permit driver and forgot about "the rule" and needed to go somewhere so I had him drive. He was completely sober (blew a 0.0) and they gave me the sobriety test and passed. They knew how much I had (4 hard alcohol drinks) and didn't feel good about ME driving, but since it was clearly a lesser of 2 evils, they drove me back to the party and let me go as long as I didn't drive myself. Clearly didn't want to ruin my life when I was actually doing the safer thing. I don't recomment it though. People become rubberneckers when someone is walking the line... they will see you and assume things, even if you get off. |
