If a bar rejects someone 'on false grounds' - is this at least wrong?

Uh no. Businesses reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. They don't actually have to provide grounds. |

Laws in each state are different. I can tell you that in Washington, where I am a police officer, a bar keep may tell anyone to leave the bar for any reason, or no reason at all. As the person in charge of the bar or owner of the business you have the right to refuse service to anyone with or without a reason. I would check your local state laws to be sure, but I would guess this law is pretty uniform from state to state |

Here in Vermont a bar tender can refuse any one at any time without 'false grounds'. |

You can reject for any reason or no reason at all. Correct or false it does not matter. The only exception is that you can not reject on the basis of Race, Religion, or Gender. |

There is an old federal law that prohibits the restriction of interstate trade.
Seeing that a customer from another state can go into a bar, this is considered interstate trade.
This law is what helped make Plessy v. Ferguson (separate but equal) a thing of the past.
Technically, if you are being kicked out for any reason other than you're far too drunk, or you're being a nuissance, then yes, they're breaking the law.
But it's the same type of dumb law as jaywalking, buying alcohol on a sunday morning, and such. They're not really a big deal. I say get over it and try again some other time. If a bouncer keeps pulling this ****, get a hold of the manager during the day and explain it to him. Bouncers and sometimes bartenders think they know people just by looking at their face. My friend with Bell's palsy CAN'T go into this one bar in the city because he looks drunk all the time (half his face is pseudo-paralyzed). |
