How can they go about finding an expunge record when your applying for the police. They claim they have some technical system to finding this stuff..but i dont believe it. For the background investigators out there..how do you go about finding an expunge case that happen many years ago..an the records has been deleted from all systems.

Generally, once a record has been expunged, it is not available to be found. There may be some record of it in a police database, but typically even that disappears. The risk you run is that either the police will locate someone that knows about the arrest and tells the investigator about it, and/or they will ask if you have ever been convicted/arrested whether it was sealed or expunged. If you lie, it will be caught during the polygraph or CVSA. I saw it happen all the time, and 99% of the time it was nothing that would have kept the person from getting hired. |

Expunged records DO NOT go away. They are simply 'off limits' unless a judge orders them produced. The fact you have an expunged record will appear an a BASIC records check. If you don't fill in the blanks, you won't be hired in law enforcement. |
