I been putting in applications to many, many Police depts.. and I turned one in to a big city dept and got a letter back saying "Your application is disqualified for financial management.." I had 2 accounts in collection but got them resolved. It roughed up my credit but I paid em off. I told them my situation but still said I was DQ'ed.
Are all depts like this? Am I wasting my time?

Some departments will disqualify you for the "easy" stuff so you can go through the trouble of an appeal if there is a process for one. They probably are looking at the possibility of "corruption" based on the fact that you need money. Each police department is different. Smaller departments are more stringent. Larger departments aren't so nit-picky.
You ask, "am I wasting my time?" THAT is exactly what they want. For you to not have what it takes to persevere. If you really want a job with LE, you had better be able to stand muster.. |

its a time thing you have to wait a certain number of years before applying after financial hard times. ask them how long before you are qualified again. |

yeah, pretty much. i'm sure there's a loophole somewhere though.
my old boss went to college to become a cop, but couldn't join the force because he had an account in collections.
if don't pay your bills you aren't considered to be trustworthy. |
