Yes they are suppose to be nice - Why just a few hours ago a Deputy here is South Carolina was helping a nice fellow pack and leave the house after a minor domestic issue. What did the deputy get for his politeness - A bullet in the face. What did the bad guy get DEAD - Cops are real on the show, but they play to the camera. |

Hell no. Some of the cops you see on "Cop's" are actually doing some things wrong. They are not all like the T.V. shows because each Dept. or Sheriffs Office has their own policies which differ from agency to agency. Please dont think all cops are like that. |

The show "Cops" will ony air the interesting and exciting parts, so the show can make it, and if these dirtbags did not commint any crimes or did as they were instructed, they won't be tazered. By the way, my K-9 is a littel upset with this tazer thing, he gets less chew toys. Do you really think that the show Cops would make it showing cops getting cats out of trees, and helping little old ladies cross the street, and putting band-aids on criminals who fell and scraped their knees.???????? |

They film thousands of hours of tape. Only a 1/2 hour of it makes it into the show. They want people to watch the show, so they show the exciting stuff. I don't think people would watch the show if all they did was drive around all night trying to stay awake, because that is what 99% of what a cops work consists of. You see the other 1% on TV. Thats why you watch it. Common sense should tell you that. |

What you see on COPS is real police officers in action fighting crime. About 99.5% of the police officers are polite and treat people with respect. Of course, we do have some who lose their cool and are a bit corrupt.
I believe you are not in the USA, but if you ever visit the US, you should never fear the police. |

Me and my co-workers laugh when that show comes on. If you want to know how it is not suppose to be done, then watch COPS. Very entertaining for us to watch. But the funniest part, I was on that show..... |

No, not the same my friend, totally differen't, like others have said, every Department and agency has their own policy and procedures, and Tasers are Great! a lot better than killing someone, statistics show that the death of people from Peace Officers has gone down once Tasers were introduced, so you thinking that Peace Officers are out to hurt and harm people makes you and Idiot. |

But seriously, I think the cops on "Cops" are pretty representative. People from other countries often do not understand that the police in the US have to be more violent because the criminals are so much more violent. Being a police officer is incredibly dangerous because we have 14 year old kids with semi-automatics and no conscience.

I know plenty of cops that help people. The people on Cops are selected because they live in areas prone to confrontations like the ones that are always depicted. Would the cop that came to get my cat out of the tree in my front yard (yes, that really happened) make for good television? I doubt it. |

Police Officers work a job just like the rest of the people in America. Some are Great at what they do and some are Poor at what they do; some love what they do, some hate it. I would hope that the bad cops be weeded out and the good cops prevail! "Cops" spend endless hours riding around with police officers, just to capture those "entertaining" moments on the beat.
Police Officers spend about 80% of their time on paperwork, 15% on traffic stops, 4% driving around, and probably less than 1% on excitement. Police Officers place the lives of those they protect above their own and deserve to be respected for that. Many do the job because they feel called to protect, not just to use their Taser. |

No all the cops are nice out where I live as long as you don't give them a reason to give you a hard time then your alright. Piece of advice don't fear the cops because when you do that makes you look more suspicious. I know for a fact that cops don't use force unless they have to so yeah I'm sticking up for the police who do their job. The police by me just pepper spray people if they need to use force. Long story short don't give the cops a hard time and you won't get a hard time. Honestly do you think they want to give you a hard time. No the police I know are a lot different then the ones on cops like other people said that is just a show for ratings those cops are very aggressive that's why I don't watch cops anymore its giving the good cops bad names. I live in the USA and I can tell you if you get pulled over you better have your hands on the wheel and not make any sudden movements or they just might waste you with a .44.
I live in a small town of 4500 people and these cops look they are preparing for an invasion.
Whatever you do, dont get caught with drugs or you will go away for a long time.
Be afraid. Be very afraid. |

There are some who are not idiots. The show Cops shows the worst of them. If that show only showed the good ones, then it would be boring and Fox would not buy anymore episodes. Being an idiot or fighting or telling your business on national television sells. Its all about money. |
