Depends on where you are. Some have blue, some have black, I've seen tan uniforms. |

Uniforms in most U.S. cities are blue. However, officers in other cities (some in California, I believe) wear black. And then there are officers in the warmer climate cities (Phoenix, Arizona; Dallas, Texas and Miami, Florida are examples) who actually wear light brown uniforms. |

The tunic is black..... which we hardly ever wear except for court appearances. The rest of our uniform is a mixture of black and blue. It all depends on which force you are in and which department within that force. I wear blue trousers and a black polo shirt. |

Different agencies use different colors. If you are unsure of what color you have seen, either go to an eye doctor or call the department and ask. |

Blue...never black. This is symbolic of the "thin blue line" between police action and criminal action. |
