Are cops good or bad people??

no. cops save lives. I am sure there is a crooked cop or two out there but honestly. They dont get paid **** and they put their lives on the line every single day. Why would you do all that and deal with shitty pay just to make peoples lives miserable. If you need to ask this question you are silly. Cops are heros.

some are good but some are bad, just like anyone else. As of late ive met a few crooked ones who were upset that they got called to an accident so they wrote a ticket to the person who called them insead of the people who were at fault. they then lied to them and told them that it would get thrown out in court, but because of the kind of ticket they wrote they got to take the person's money instead. I hate cops i wish someone would just shoot all the bad ones in the head, but they never die, you know why? because when they see real trouble, they run the other way.

Unfortunately, there is bad in this world where ever you turn, and that includes our law enforcement. However, I feel that it is a generally small amount of bad cops versus good cops.

Most of them are good people. There are a few crooked cops out there, but the vast majority of them are honest people who take their job very seriously.

Cops used to always be the "cream of the crop". Then
came the law that you had to hire so many minorities
and that changed everything as too many of them were
not even "cop" material and had no training whatsoever.
Just like professional ball players, you can take the
kid out of the slums but you'll never take the slums
out of the kid. All professional sports have fights
that seem to be routine now (except golf).

I most certainly do not.
I know many officers and I know that the majority are upstanding, brave people!
A select few out there make the badge a difficult one to wear.
Just because there are a few bad seeds, does not mean the name is ruined :-)
These people go to work every day knowing they may never come home.
They take the chance of giving their life!
How many of us can say that?

the types of people that REALLY go into police work are:
1. usually those who got picked on in high school, so they think they will be big and bad by being a police officer. they will show everyone who is really in charge.
2. ex military men (and women) who find the only way they can still be in charge is by being a police officer. if they cannot be a police officer, and sit around and talk to their police friends about policing, they will get a job as a bouncer, and sit around with their bouncer friends and talk about bouncing. either way, their jock brain will be all tapped out.
i don't think that they are usually more crooked, they might be, but i haven't noticed that. i have noticed they will lie to you, lie all day long.

i believe some of them are, or maybe a lot of them. but not all of them. totally depends on the individual's character.

i generally dislike cops, good or bad. i think the system is horrible. its supposed purpose is to protect the community, but i hardly feel it comes close to doing that.

As in all walks of life, you have your good and your bad. You cant characterize all cops as bad,thats just stupid. There have been many times where an Offeicer has gone above and beyond his duty or job description to help someone. And there have been times where good people have been royally screwed by them.As with any Public Servant you have to take the good with the bad,and hope that most of your dealings with Police are with the good officers.Most importantly you need to remember that you dont have to respect the man,but you do have to respect the Uniform and what it means.

no good nor evil...they are not good because they just do their jobs in exchange of money retribution it is not for good sake...yet there are virtuous people there too that dreamed from child of being a cop to save people life even if they don't get the pay they should for risking their lives...
they are no evil because they follow orders from the government...unless they are corrupt cops under a good government...in this case they are bad...
it's a pain when answers depend on relativity...yet no question has a perfect answer...just a best answer...

Like all people, there are good cops and bad cops.
Some cops just warned me for speeding. Some just had a little smile after writing me tickets. Some caught the bad guys and saved someone's life. Some beat up people unnecessarily.
Some became politicians or even a prime minister.
Some are honest and some take money under the table.
But the society won't work really well without a cop.
Just hope we only run into good ones!

They are people. some are good people some are bad people. I don't know that many bad people would chose a life of putting their life on the line to protect us and property for not much pay...

cops catch a bad break...they mostly deal with the worst of the worst...constantly exposed to only the bad people and I think that effects our police force..they snap sometimes..

I was arrested due to a mistake where the charges were immediately dropped as it was a complete misunderstanding. I did not resist in any way, however, the cops felt it necessary to rough me up and threw me out on the street without any of the medications that I had as a result of a recent heart attack for which I had presecriptions and they were in the labeled bottles. I BEGGED every cop in the station to let me have my potentially life-saving medications. Not a single one of them would lift a finger to give me my medications (I am in my late 50's BTW). Are you telling me that a single one of those cops was anything other than a criminal with a badge?
