Are police officers good swimmers or are they okay swimmers?

Some swim good, some swim ok and some can't swim at all probably.

I'm sure the majority would have basic swimming abilities. Running ability is essential though.

Are teachers good swimmers or are they okay swimmers?
Are doctors good swimmers or are they okay swimmers?
Are factory workers good swimmers or are they okay swimmers?

It just depends on the individual. Some people are better swimmers than others, it doesn't depend on their profession. I would hope that most police officers are better swimmers incase anything water related happened.

What makes you think you could generalize police officers into any category here?

I'm not a very good swimmer.....I also don't live near any big bodies of water.

Some departments have a Swimming Section to their Physical Training.

Others, don't have a need for you to be able to swim.
So there are great swimmers, there are officers who can't swim at all, and there are officers at every level in between.
