Are police officers scared of thugs?

I was just watching cops, and I was wondering if police officers are more nervous around people who are thugs, because I would be a lot more nervous around people who act ghetto. They seem to be very unpredictable and like everyone is always pissing them off.

For the police officers answering, do you get really nervous or scared when you have a call or make a traffic stop with people who are thugs, or act like it? Or is it about the same as other people?

My town police, personally tend to slack alot. I've been to the department one time (tour- dont worry :p) and The police officers where all leaning against walls, slouching as we talked to them (except one officer.) They only got up because we brought cookies. Anyways.. Yes I do think majority of my town officers are scared by thugs haha. But I know my State Police arn't at all -Trust me on that one haha.

i believe everyone is afraid of the UNKNOWN, so going up to a stranger could be dangerous , so i'd imagine thugs are afraid of police and police are afraid of thugs if they meet each other one on one, but when a gang of police or a gang of thugs has the opportunity to attack each other, i'll bet the FEAR is equal !
People HATE what they fear .
Hopefully the thug gangs and the police gangs learn to play more often with each other, such as basketball, boxing events, etc ...... cause the more we all interact , the more we will learn to get along and life is all about learning who to TRUST

I do not think many cops are shot by suburban housewives.

But they are well trained to handle it and as long as they follow their training, they do ok. There is not a great deal of combined IQ in a group of crack dealers posted up under a streetlight. but there is a good deal of competitive spirit and desire to prove a relative degree of bad assedness. that is a recipe for disaster for any ONE cop. So those groups are never approched by ONE cop. See?
