By triggered i mean the force needed to pull the trigger so the weapon discharges a round. Lets make no bones about it if an army person has to fire his weapon its to kill as quickly as possible, a police officer has to quickly weigh the situation up and react within the law, and i'm not saying the military are above the law but its their job to serve and defend the State, its a cops job to protect and serve the public. Would their side arms be of a different spec for the f/lbs needed to discharge the weapon?

The trigger pull for a duty weapon is normally 10 to 12 lbs. I'm not sure about the military, as I haven't served. But the pull is meant to avoid accidental discharges. Although your finger should never be on the trigger unless you are ready to fire. |

Well, police often carry different firearms than the military. As US military generally use the Beretta 92 9mm pistol and most police departments use Glock branded firearms.
To be honest there isn't a lot of difference between a 1lb trigger pull and a 1.5 lb trigger pull.
Also, the military has to also carefully weigh options to use deadly force. Especially in today's world in which your fighting against irregular forces that might be mixed in with civilians.
Police and military soldiers are trained to keep their finger's OFF the trigger until they decide to use lethal force. That helps prevent officers and soldiers from accidentally discharging a round and is much more effective than changing the trigger pull. |

All armys have different kinds of weapons and so do police forces a weapon is a weapon.If you practice firing a weapon with a heavy trigger enough then you will be accurate with the weapon anyway. |

To answer your specific question - No.
Although adjustable to some extent the trigger pull errs on the heavier side to avoid accidental discharge under stressful situations.
Lightening the pull to aid accuracy is or can be a disciplinary offence. |
