Are prisons in Vermont bad? (Are they bad in Montana?)?

Okay, not that I plan on going there for prisons but I am curious about this story. My friend's uncle said he went to prison in Vermont for 2 months and it was peaceful, the prison there had no fights and usually the worst thing he saw was an inmate cry because his son got hit in school. One person he said was in prison for murder because when he was sleeping, he slept over his wife and his wife suffocated and the man was locked up for a long time (he said the man was very heavy).

So in reality, do prisons vary in how bad they are? (like lets say, is a prison in California worse than a prison in Montana?)

I am just curious, any answers will help.

Ok lol Area of the country does not dictate the social unrest or civility of a prison.... I dont know what prison yer friends uncle went to but it sounds like white color good behavior type conjical visit prison... Those reserved for high end white colar crimes or rich accidents..... I can tell you from exp and from having 2 uncles father and one aunt in various prisons and counties that the only common factor that seems to connect BADNESS with a certain prison tends to be the Age of that prison coupled with how good of a warden it has.... Its like a buisness if u have a boss that knows nothing and unmotivated employees that are allowed to run wild using ancient equiptment then overall things will seem horrible and become horrible.. The worse the conditions feal the worse the inmates feal the more apt they are to do violance..... I can tell you this most of the oldest least updated prisons are in the south and in the east... Not including Texas or Missouri... The east also has some of the newest BUT figure this most of the populations are on the coasts which means more people to put in prison.... I can tell you Leavenworth Is everything they say it is and fear...At the same time its also very very orderly and very well maintained.... You figure many of the inmates are former Military so as long as they keep the military mind set going many just fall in line like they did in the military....But its bad but updated.

Trust me, you're just getting bad guesses here. All prisons are bad. I can tell you there is no prison where the worst thing is someone crying because he heard bad news. Some are worse than others of course but there's no such thing as a prison that's not bad.

I don't know, but I'd say they are probably on the nice end in Vermont. Montana it depends where it is. If it's in a very remote county that doesn't have a whole lot of money, your rations could be light. If it's in a county that has livestock, your chances are better.

look at the demographic of the population. Are they average civilized people, or gang banging you know what? That will tell you what the prison is going to be like.

Nope, in states like South Dakota, Montana, North Dakota, Iowa, and a lot of the New England states, prisons are not that bad but do know, those prisons are full of White people. That means if you are not White then you better watch it or watch yourself, because you will get beat up severely. I don't know how the attitudes towards Asians is but the attitudes towards Blacks there is extremely negative and if you are Black in a lets say Prison in Idaho, look to get abused, severely beaten or even murdered because those prisons house a lot of White supremacists.
