Are there any of you who have a Supervisor younger than you, if so how do you handle it?

I've had supervisors younger than me for the majority of my working life. No big deal -- you just do your job the best you can and don't even think about it.

The best boss I ever had was 15 years my junior. I'd happily work for him again in a heartbeat.

both my supervisor and manager are younger than i am, but they have the ultimate responsibility if i screw up, so i just do whatever they say and try to get it right. if i don't it's their arses, not mine

Treat them with respect and give them credit for knowing enough to get the job. I was once the "younger" supervisor. I got the job because I knew all the jobs by experience. As the supervisor, I tried to listen to the "older" employees, sometimes I had to draw the line because they showed me no respect. If you have an "issue" with something they have done, try to talk to them alone, and away from others. That is a way of showing respect. Be calm and NOT condescending to them. Good Luck!

simple. how would you want people to handle it if it was the other way around?

i've been in this situation before (being over people older than myself) and it's just as awkard for the sup. they don't want you to think that THEY think that they're better than you, and yet they have to do their job. don't give them a hard time simply because they are younger than you. If this is a problem that you have treat them the way you should, that's the way you would want to be treated.

My Drill Sgt. was younger than I in the Army. It was rather... odd at first, though. I did give him respect, though. It was the only younger boss that earned my respect.

What would age have to do with any of this? A supervisor is a supervisor no matter what their age.

My Supervisor is a lot younger than I am but it is ok. He is such a awesome Super. I have been here a lot longer than he has. Just do your job and you will have no problem with you Supervisor.

yes i do have one and i handle it like he was older than me because if i wre to be rude probably write me up i hate dat women but never understood her so take it easy and just go with the flow
