Are u for or against the new law in California that prohibits talking on a cell phone while driving?

For it. It will save lives and prevent accidents. It is proven that talking on the phone while driving increases the risks of crashes. If you want to endanger your own life thats fine but don't endanger me and my family.

For it, anyway to prevent more accidents & deaths im definitely for. We can wait until we stop driving to talk on our cells, its not a big deal.

The law states that in order to use your cell phone while driving you must have a head set or hands free speaking device. I think the law is a great law for not being able to hold your cell phone and talking on it while driving. There are too many drivers in this state that can't drive to begin with, never mind using a cell phone while they are driving. When they are talking on the phone they don't pay attention to what is going on around them and they cause accidents. So, for it!!

All for it. People just do not pay attention when driving.

They should also be banned in all public places period.....I do not want to hear your personal life story while I'm trying to buy groceries , or using the restroom.

I am for banning all cell phone use while driving. I recently retired from a job where I drove over 150 miles a day you would not believe some of the traffic problems I saw that were caused by people on cell phones even during hard rain storms or ice and snow (minnesota) it makes no difference they are addicted to the use of the cell phone something needs to be done their worse then drunk drivers at times

Personally, I'm for a national law barring cell phone use period...but I'd settle for a mandate to only allow hands free use (bluetooth or other type of headset). I've seen and have responded to way to many accidents from some yahoo not paying attention to the road while they're on the phone (and they ALWAYS say they were paying attention). If you need to use the phone so bad in the car, pull of to the side of the road first.

Are you kidding , Have you seen How ppl drive when they are NOT on the Phone in L.A good lord they need to get off the phone and pay attention to that 3 ton item they are driving that could kill a person,

This should be a law adopted by ALL states. People are careless to begin with and cell phones only made things worse.

It's good in theory, but it's not really enforceable. Not only that, but talking on a cell phone is only one of many, many distractions that drivers face. What about billboards? Their sole purpose is for people to look at them and read them taking their eyes off the road. There are people walking down the street, music, other people in the car, so many distractions. And what do you do about people who daydream while they drive? My point is you can't ban all distractions.

Enforceable or not, we have enough of a nanny state already. It is not the job of the government to babysit adults constantly. There will always be bad drivers. Eating is distracting. Talking to passengers is distracting. Looking out at the scenery is distracting. If you want to stay brand new your whole life, stay in the box. I am going to enjoy my freedom and the productivity that a cell phone provides.
