Absolutely not; I thank God for them.
I live in a not-too-safe area of a large city (Los Angeles), and this area is the turf of a notorious street gang. It would be a jungle if the police weren't here.
For a few months a few years ago, I lived in a predominately black gang-infested area of L.A., and was fairly regularly stopped and checked out by the police---and I don't think that anyone in the world would ever think that I look like I could be in a gang (first of all, I'm a nelly sissy; not too many street gangs have people like me as members!). There were times when it was inconvenient and embarrassing, but again---it would have been even more of a jungle if they hadn't been there.
No---I am not afraid of the police. I appreciate them. |
