Arrested for Shooting BB gun, I'm 15...?

Ok, I was shooting targets in my backyard with my air gun, theres a view from the driveway and you can see me shooting the targets, I walked down my driveway a couple times to see if I could shoot the targets from a distance. 8 police cars showed up with rifles yelling at me to get on the ground and drop the weapon, I'm laying there, confused and frightened as hell, not knowing whats going on. They picked up the gun and confirmed it was a BB gun, and told me they got 3 calls from ongoing people saying that a maniac in a bathrobe has a rifle and was shooting. They had a long talk with me and my parents saying I was disturbing the peace and could have potentially caused harm. I'm a 15 year old male and live in Connecticut. I have to go to trial next Tuesday.
What can I say to prevent me from going to Juvenile Hall, I'm honestly not a bad person, I just aspire to be a police officer and am fascinated with weapons, not so much anymore...
Please help me, if I get sent to Juvie, my life will be ruined for something that was stupid of me.

While the trial is scheduled, it seems very likely to me that they will enter a "Nolle Prosequi" before then. That means they drop the charges. It means that after the police gave the report to the prosecutor, he or she decides that you a) didn't technically break any laws or b) are not worth the effort to prosecute. This is made more likely if you have a good lawyer who knows the law. The prosecution will know they can't win, and give up before the trial
Any sort of jail or juvie is VERY unlikely in this case. Most laws on where you can shoot a BB gun are city ordinances with just a fine attached.
If you feel like it, you can look into the people who reported you: If you find they lied or bent the truth for some malicious reason to get the police to come, be sure to see that they get prosecuted (False Statement to Police) or sued (Defamation of Character). |

WOW cops are gay if you ask me you did nothing wrong you were on your property! tell the judge this if its true. im 15 also i have an airsoft gun and a neighbor yelled at me and said they were gonna call the cops! If yours has a orange tip on it you should not get in any trouble. Make sure that your parents bought it for you also cause that can get you in more trouble. idk what else to say just be truthful if you lie and they find out longer harsher sentence. |

relax jail time is to harsh, you(your parents) may just have to pay a few grand. just say you were shooting a bb gun on your property and having fun, when somebody who has no clue on the subject of guns thought you were shooting at a house, so they called the police, remember just be honest!!!!!!!! |
