even though they are hypocritical given alcohol is legal yet more dangerous, and marijuana is a safer alternative.

Despite what someone else mentioned, yes we do enforce Marijuana laws in Canada. It however is a much lower priority on a person, compared to a dealer or smuggler. Or someone selling 8balls and elbows, in BC it's a story altogether different but that's not something I'll post here.
It comes down to pure officer discretion up here, I however expect within the next 10yrs that there will be significant changes on the marijuana laws. The last estimate I heard was ~10-20% of the population used the stuff. Even the courts go easy on the grow ops, so do the math. |

In Canada they don't. I like the fact the US enforces it. The US has so much money and empty jail cells they need to fill them up with warm bodies. You might as well arrest and imprison someone. |

A lot of police do not enforce possession laws. Many will simply confiscate the marijuana and not write the ticket. |

I would depending on the age and criminal history of the individual, first time offenders or someone who looks clean might get lucky, but anyone under 18 won't be that lucky. |
