In other words, has there ever been a time when you pulled someone over to maybe even just give them a warning, but when you got to them they were such a**holes or so disrespectful that you ended up giving them a ticket. I think that would be kind of funny. Especially if you told them after the fact they did it to themselves.

I've had people talk themselves into several tickets. |

I pulled a lady over once for doing 75km/hr in a 40km/hr school zone. She told me that I "should be out catching murderers and rapists" and that "she didn't have time for this" and that people speed in her neighbourhood and we are "never around to catch them." She's tearing a strip off of me for her speeding!
I went back to the car to write the ticket and had every intention on reducing the speed and fine ( to fifteen over, no points 1/4 of the fine) because I reduce almost all of my tickets. She came to the car knocked on the window and demanded to know why "it was taking so long" and told me once again what she though I should do.
I smiled at her and said "Ma'am, I'm writing as fast as I can"
I set aside the ticket with the reduced fine and wrote her a new one for the full amount. |

People talk the police into writing tickets all the time. It usually starts with "What are you gonna do? Write me a ticket?" |

I am sure it happens all the time, because for some reason, some people can't leave well enough alone. |

On a regular basis, sometimes I think they actually want the ticket... |

Of course! I almost always reduce tickets for people, but when those few like to have attitudes like they can do no wrong and question me for THEIR violation, here's your big fat non-reduced ticket. Have a nice day!

The purpose of traffic enforcement is to obtain compliance.
If someone refuses to accept responsibility, and is argumentative, I seriously doubt a warning would change their behavior. If I feel that is the case, that makes it much easier to hold them accountable with a citation.
As a matter of rule, I never tell someone they talked themselves into a ticket. No sense getting them even more wound up. |

Alcohol doesn't help, and people don't realize this. People need to learn that "freedom of speech" also means "stfu". |

yes of course
and stars put on the ticket for the judge to know that the person was rude so that the judge will not reduce it for them |
