Listen report it . your chances are better if there was a witness . if there wasn't a witness then I would not report this time but if it continues then document it or report right after it happens. |

Report it - not reporting means they win and will do it again and again and again until it has a tragic ending |

Even if you ask the police not to take any action, make sure it is reported, and is on record; that way, if it happens again, you've more chance of getting a result. |

You want to help but he is in difficult place right now and he's gripped with fear. either way they've won in a sense. His feelings must be taken into account otherwise if you go behind his back wont confide in you ever again and this guy needs a friend right now. Try get him to open up and be supportive, try to get him to accept that reporting it IS the only way. Once reported and they will take it seriously (they did my daughter and were excellent) if these thugs attempt to do it again then they can be arrested for intimidation of a witness. Any witnesses to this crime ? Get him to keep a diary, nothing major just notes perhaps he will understand should he need to refer back to. You cant make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. He'll feel like c**p for few days but glad he did it in the end. Can he confide in Parents? He needs all the support he can get. These thugs will be known to the police if not now but they will cross paths in future. This guy needs to concentrate on his own future and career and get well away from them. Your a good friend and I wish him well. |

poor him, this is hard.
You should report them, but he must know you cannot do it behind his back.
Try and talk him into it and go to the police station with him for support and tell the police exactly what happened and also how he is feeling.
They are the only people who can help. Good Luck |

You can report it, but without the co-operation of the injured party, the police cannot do anything. You are not a witness so you cannot say what has happened. For a victimless (ie, no injured party complaint) prosecution, it requires witnesses to say what the victim won't. If the victim (or witnesses) will not make a statement, the police have no evidence. |

You don't need a witness, to an assault, The word of the child is fine, and if he was seen in an hospital emergency, or not seen. I the child has trauma on the body that is all is needed to make an arrest.
The child needs to be convinced that it is in their best interest to report the assult. And you stand behind the child as their support.
Otherwise this type of situation is not going to end. Kind of a double edge sword. Damn if you do and damn if you don't.
You can ask the law enforcement to patrol your area, or keep an on the child.
If this gang is that dangerous, ask for protective custody while the crime is being investigated, or an arrest is made.

Report them. Letting it go will only make them bolder. |

Ok you need to report this, and yes there is a chance they could get him again if you do report him BUT there's a bigger chance they could come at him again or someone else and do fatal damage. If you live in Canada; the police will arrest this gang, they will not be released on bail, they will serve there trial in jail, and they will be sentenced to some jail time depending on if and how bad your son was hurt. Good luck |

Try and persuade your friend to report it to the Police, it might be worse next time. Good luck to you both. |

Report it or they will be tempted to do it again. |

This is very hard....
Try the approach by asking him to go down the Police station with you and speaking to someone about it.
The Officer will have ways of speaking with him and you will be able to sort something out that you are all happy with.
He needs to at least log this incident with the Police. |

report but stress the situation to them so they will not let anything slip |

this is why there are young thugs in the UK today that think they can do what they want cox folk like your friend are scared.
well hes had the beating how can it get worse the only way this yob culture will ever be stopped is if we all and i mean all start acting like grown ups and not frightened sheep and report these crimes and stand up in court and give evidence.
tell your friend if he wants to stop them from beating him up again he has to report them coz if he does not whats going to stop them the next time they see him.. |

Well i know you dont want to fall out with your friend but you should persuade him that its the right thing to do. These gangs cant keep getting away with attacking and killing people.. the gangs need to be put in jail and the key thrown away. I think that you should report it to the police. Sorry if i arent any help xx |

You NEED to report it... if you don't huge chain of events could happen that would not be good for you or the "youngster"...If your afraid of him get hurt again try to get police protection and a protective order... |

Of course you should report it, they will only do it again if they are not held accountable. Evil runs a muck if righteous people do nothing. |

Unless the person attacked is willing to make a complain the police won't be able to do anything even if you witnessed the attack.
Make the police aware and maybe they can keep an eye on things. |

Listen, I have lived in ghetto areas and "snitching" will not help.
If you "tell" on a gang they will probably end up hurting this guy even more and worse shooting him.
Theres pretty much nothing you can do. I suggest having this youngster not having anything on him worth taking then they will leave him alone and unfortunately pick on somebody else |
