Assault or are the Police taking the P$*%?

My father was walking up the street yesterday, walking on the inside of the pavement with the wall on his left side. A neighbour who clearly has aproblem bee-lined for my father and walked staight into him where both their shoulders banged together. Now remember my father was walking with the wall on his left side...no-where to go....he had a hip replacement and is nearly 64!
at 5pm the Police came to see hm in the regrdsto this incident and said that if they could find a witness they will charge him for assault as they banged shoulders and my father could of moved....moved where.....does he have super powers to where he can jump onto a wall????!!!
Im I going stir crazy in thinking I have nevver heard of such out- of -this world load of crap in all my life!
BE WARNED Dont rub shoulders with anyone in the street You could be charged with ASSAULT!

This is no joke. My father is needing a secong hip replacement on the rightside so he walks with difficulty. as I said he was walking next to the wall..nowhere to go but to bang shoulders. Its so unbelivable the police didnt let him counteract the claim. Yet the police wont ask the other guy why he delibertly walked towards my father. Its madness
