I took the test a couple weeks ago. Theres was alot of people there and this was just one of i think 3 test sessions.

2 days ago i got a letter in the mail saying i passed the test and will need to show up for the physical training portion.

What should i expect? Alot of people competing?
And how tough is the training?
I read what i have to do...Everything is pretty easy to me.
I'm not the greatest at push ups. Or lifting so much over my body weight.

I'm 5'10 165lbs.

Guess i'm just looking for some info on what to expect and whats a good way to get in better shape for lifting and push ups.

I have to report there april first...which isnt much time.
But like i said i am very athletic..Just never lift alot of weight like that or do push ups very much. I mainly go running and can do alot of sit ups.

Depends on your state and agency....

Some agencies may have 10-20 at the physical agility test (note - it's not a training - it's a test); some may have 40-50 or more, depending on the size of the agency.

They're not looking just for the fastest/strongest; they're looking to see if you're in reasonably good shape. It generally includes a distance run (no more than 1 mile, maybe less), running an obstacle course, a dummy drag..... generally things you might be expected to do on the street.

You shouldn't have a big problem. Mainly they try to weed out the ones that can't run after criminals. You won't be the only one that isn't in tip-top shape.

At least for Illinois these are the general requirements although specific tests could vary by department.

From my friend's experience taking these tests you MUST pass each test to move on to the next one. If you fail one then they stop the test right there, but from what I've read you can request a re-test within 48 hours.
