Inaccurate = Lie |

Tell them the truth. Just say you gave inaccurate wages. It was a mistake. Apologize, and state that you will do what it necessary to correct the problem. If you lie, you will be sorry. They dont play that. |

First off write back within 10 days, otherwise you have admitted to the allegation by default. Second off if they give you an option to request an administrative hearing; request it. And lastly go to the hearing and explain that you where not attempting to defraud
anyone .
And that you merely and simply made a simple accounting mistake.
You will most likely get a small penalty, but you will not be found to have committed fraud and thus will keep your benefits. |

"A little inaccurate" to a Government agency that issues money to you based on income is fraud, and an outright lie.
If I were you I'd get that money paid back ASAP before you find yourself behind bars.
"A little inaccurate" is like being "a little pregnant". |

If you didn't lie then you should just explain to them what happened 'cause if you lie any more and dig a deeper hole you could face penalities and perhaps? jail time? |

I don't know what to say on this one, except maybe consult an attorney. The government will really go after you if they find out you have been frauding the system...and that can include fines, as well as prison time. And I am wondering what you think the difference is between giving earnings figures that "were a little inaccurate" and lying. Sounds like the same thing to me. |
|

.. .this can't be good

The truth is your best option. Answer within the 10 days, politely and with respect, and explain you gave the information as best you possible could and to the best of your knowledge at the time. But state the accurate figures now. |

Whoa! The best policy is to say you made an honest mistake. Whatever you do don't admit you knew.. |

I got caught also. I just paid it back. Actually they were pretty cool about it. I just said I was confused about the dates and I would pay it back. They set up a payment arrangement for me. I think I paid 50.00 per month. Now I am done. Whether you have a valid reason or not you probably owe the money, Just write a letter saying it was a mistake and send 50.00 in with it and say you would like to make payments. That happens all the time |

You should have been honest to start with, as the same place that your unemployment benefits comes from, also can put up every place you have worked and how much money you made. |
