It all depends, in canada if you are caught with a stolen gun and it has been reported as used in a crime, you are responsible for that crime unless you are proven innocent. Here it is accepting stolen property, posession of stolen property, illegal intent for a firearm, failure to register your weapon, and that is just to name a few. Best to stay away when buddy has his gun out. |

He has a license to carry concealed, but the weapon is stolen, so that's receiving and concealing stolen property. He better have a Receipt of sale to cover his a**, or he may get his CCW license REVOKED! That's Federal Law in all states and occupying Territories |

actually what happens is if the cop finds out, he shoots you |

Even though he has a license, he could still get in pretty big trouble for having the gun, since it was, after all, stolen. |

Why chance it? Are guns that hard to come by legally? If he ever is forced to use it, there will be hell to pay. Especially if it has been used in a prior crime especially a murder. Since one wouldn't know the past history of the gun it seems like a dumb idea. |

I used to know a guy that hung out in front of the local fast food place. They said he could get his hands on any gun you wanted. I said no thank you. Later on I saw him on COPs getting arrested for selling a gun.
If your friend ever needs to use that weapon in self defense he could get in a lot of trouble. Texas laws are pretty lenient on home protection, but you have to own the weapon. |

Yes, at a minimum it sounds like he could be charged with possession of stolen property. If your friend has a CCW permit, and it's still valid, I find it hard to believe that he would purchase a stolen gun from a random stranger. I haven't attended the class yet, but it seems like that would be a violation of the conditions of the permit. Additionally, there would be no way for your friend to legally register the gun, because if he tried it would come up stolen in NCIC assuming the original owner reported it stolen. Then your friend would have a whole lot of explaining to do. I'm going to assume your firend doesn't have a reciept to prove he purchased it from and from whom. He would definately be looking at prison time. Hope the gun wasn't used in a crime. |
