i wouldnt consider myself a cop lover by any stretch of the imagination, but i will say this, yes the police do deserve our respect, because without it what have we got ? bedlam thats what, people running amok causing trouble all over the place. and thats not safe

Set It Off was just a movie where characters were portrayed a certain way. But even in the movie, what do you expect the police to do to bank robbers? Do the robbers deserve respect? Heck no. Try not to be so easily misled by a movie. It's just entertainment and fairtales.

In no way should you paint all police officers with broad stroke and portray them in bad way. That's just plain unfair to them. Most cops are fair and professional.

If you break the law you get in trouble, some get their as& kicked or gets shot...so what, stop breaking the law. If your are doing nothing wrong and you get pulled over, just let them search your car and they will let you go...If you have some weed or crack in the car then you go to jail.....If you fight with the police I think they should have the right to beat the sh!t out of you, pepper spray you, tazed you, run you over you with their car, kick you in the head and shot you. People should control themselves or get beat down.

The police do deserve respect, because they are the ones that come to your rescue when you are in need of help or when you have been shot and an ambulance can't get there in time.

For all of you....whom are foolish enough...to "hate" cops...please make sure that you remove the 911 from your phone.....I can not tell you how many times that I get calls from cop "haters" when they need us.....they get robbed ...mugged or worse then ask why we did not stop it like we could be everywhere at once...at the same time give one of you whiners a ticket and you get incensed that we enforce the law....

Example: The other night I went to a domestic call...the husband was beating the poop out of his wife....we stopped it and arrested him as we got her ready for the hospital...she attacked us for arresting her husband.....pity in the future we KNOW we will be back to save her again....but we will...dispite her hate of us as she stated....

In my suburb, I have good cops. However I have been to other places where they are useless and lazy, they even drag their feet and slur when they speak.
Yes, there are the corrupt ones as well as the legitimate ones.
You get this in any industry.
I must say, not all cops know the law well, there have been countless times that I have called them to make an inquiry, they send me from one department to another because they don't know the answer.
Yes, I do call on them for help, only because we legally have to, the law does not allow us to take any situation into our own hands.

If they aren't crooked like the majority of them then they do deserve respect. However, there have been instances where cops have been worse than most criminals they prosecute, and that has given them all a bad name. It is hard to say which ones are bad and which ones are good.

Okay,
You're making a judgment about my character based on a freaking movie. Society would fall apart without us so get use to us being around because we're not going away. Maybe you should go do a ride along with your local Police Department and see what it is really like to do our job. Maybe then you might have a better idea about what we really do instead of watching someones piece of fiction.

Learn to separate reality from fantasy and maybe you'll earn my respect.

By the way, you can legally own a gun without being a Police Officer.

lol where i live (england) theyre terrible. they arnt violent and they dont swear - they just dont do anything. they are SO racist. and in my experience even the none-white police officers are just as racist to ethnic minorities. even their own. so 2 answer ur question... i hate police. they are brutes and have no problem solving skills. yes that is a crass generalisation, but i am sticking to it. in all my expiriances thay are all the same.

my theory is there are two kinds of cops,
#1) the kid who got the crap kicked out of him in high school who has grown up with a chip on his shoulder and wants to prove to himself and everyone how strong he has become, and #2) the guy who enjoyed kicking the crap out of guy 1 in high school and did not get enough of it then, so they made a career out of it.
i hate cops.
i have not come across a nice one since elementary school.
at a certain age you stop being the kids the police wanted to impress, and you become the people the police want to oppress.

edit: to protect and serve... yourselves! you guys deserve it when people spit in your food at fast food restaurants! L.A.P.D. = THE BIGGEST GANG IN LOS ANGELES!!!
