If you didn't do anything illegal (blowing dust on a house is not illegal) then you can't get into any trouble.
But be careful if this guy is as crazy as he sounds he might try to bring a false accusation against you. I would avoid (if possible) driving by his house for a few days. If you do so always be sure to drive the speed limit (if he has called the police they may set up a speed trap)
Chances are he is just old and a little disoriented. Old people get very suspicious and a little disillusioned sometimes (especially when dealing with a younger generation). If he confronts you again be polite (even if he isn't) mention the drought and that it's hard to go anywhere an not get covered in dust anymore. If he sees that you mean him no har and that you are trying to be friendly he may soften up a little. but he may not and it would be best to avoid him.
Good luck! |

No problem - you just had a run-in with a crochety senior citizen who was having a bad day and taking it out on you, that's all. |

I don't think you need to worrie, I bet if you really did nothing wrong, the police are aware of the calls they get from crazy people like that and know how to handle them. |

If you're obeying the speed limit and driving carefully, there's not much he can do. |

The police can't do anything. |

No I don't think you could get in trouble for doing that, as long as you wer doing the speed limit! |

I live on a dirt road and where theres dirt there's dust. dont worry about it.
He had the hose to waterdown the dirt to keep the dust down.
So if he says anything eles to you just tell him that his water on the dirt just got your truck/car muddy and you have his tag number also. |

If you were obeying the traffic laws, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. But remember, if a speed limit is posted at 45, it still means "as safety permits up to the posted speed" so it still depends on road conditions.
The old gent has a valid complaint though, the city should be responsible for maintaining the roads and he should be directing his issues there. |

Eccentricities come with old age. People get lonely he was flagging you down to talk to someone.
Police deal with this all the time. they are trained for it, my old neighbor said I stole his cancelled checks out of his roll top desk.
I had never been in his house. Turned out he hid them so the police would spend a couple hours searching his house.
What would anyone want with cancelled checks.
After that I brought him a snack every day until he passed away a couple years later at 93. He never thanked me once, but that was the way he was.His daughters called me and thanked me, I guess he told them. |

He sounds like someone the police probably hear from a lot over obviously non-criminal activity such as what you describe. He might actually call them and, likely, the person taking the call will politely listen, say they'll make a report then hang up and forget about it. I'm sure most police stations get any number of calls about such things daily so they'll just try to assure him that they're doing something to get him off the phone when, of course, they wont do anything at all.
In other words, no, you're not going to get in trouble since you didn't do anything wrong. |

He's just a grumpy old man. You have nothing to worry about. |

wow one

No nothing he can do, just an old man with nothing better to complain about. I live on a gravel road and it is just a way of life when it does not rain much. |

No he's just an old man and is crabby because of the dust. It probably makes his life harder. The police will just laugh at him. You have nothing to worry about. Please don't bother him and make things worse. |

No you can't get in trouble. The cops will laugh in his face. |

The only way you get into trouble is if:
1) He tells your parents on you
2 )He is your landlord
3) He is your boss
4) He is related to you and takes you out of his will
There is absolutely no legal trouble here! |

Don't worry, you can't get in trouble.
You were so sweet to stop when you thought he had an emergency. He may live alone and be lonely - looking for any human contact. Just feel sorry for him and forget it.
You were right that spraying water on the new road could be dangerous - it could cause someone to skid.
Drive slow passing his house and wave to him with a big smile. |

I think police have far better issues to deal with than dust on his house, this old man, should think about something else better to do with his time. I use to live down a road like this, an walking made it dusty, its just the dry season, i would suggest going below the speed limit, just in front of his house. And no you can't get into trouble, especially if its a private road. |

no, you can't get in trouble.....he probably didn't even call the cops. and there is nothing the cops would do. so i wouldn't worry about it. he just sounds like a grumpy old man. |

don't sweat it but out of kindness and deference to his age you could try creeping very slowly by his house plus hate to say it but he is wasting water |

Angry old man, nothing more. He's angry at the road crew for the dust and he seems to be taking it out on you and probably every other driver on that road. Let him contact the police. After a while, dispatch will send an officer to his house to stop the calls. |
|

?
 |
Not sure where you live, but most dry states have dust control laws. Whoever is doing the work is responsible for keeping the dust pollution down. Check with that, then Id say give the man the number to complain. |

No. I would have gone back and forth several times to make my point, and then I would have called the police because the towel waving in the right of way is a dangerous distraction. |
