Here's the scenario. I was pulling into a parking space, and barely nicked this lady's car. We talked and exchanged numbers, and she calls the police to do a report (she was being paranoid because the day before someone did a hit and run on her car). Well the police came and did a report. I asked the lady if I could try something. I got a napkin and some water and presto! The 3 inches of white paint I left on her car were completely gone, there were no dents, no nothing, its as if nothing had happened. Well she apologizes to me and the cop for wasting our time, and we wrapped it up. Then the cop gave me a ticket! For what you ask? "UNSAFE TURNING". I begged him not to give the ticket and he said no it was his job. Now I have to go to court. What should I do? I don't want to plead not guilty because if I lose I can't go to traffic school. What should I do? Do I even have a chance of winning? It's not like he even saw what happened.

Kebert... you're a POS. I did take responsibility by immediately giving her my insurance card. The damage was so minor that I could wipe it off with A WET NAPKIN. I was NOT speeding or anything, just simply nicked the lady's car because the parking spaces were tiny and I drive a toyota avalon (it's like a friggen boat). If anything the lady had the right to get my money, not the stupid officer.

I do understand your dilemma but agree that based upon the officers observations...he observed a violation. As such, he did what we the taxpayers require him to do...his job!
The positive side of this is you don't have to pay for a paint job or damage repair...the ticket will most likely be much less than that of what the vehicle repair COULD have been.
We all make mistakes and this is why they call your incident an "accident." Of course you didn't do it on purpose.
The whole incident, of course, was a learning experience for everybody. Take the course and be done with it that way you don't have the accident or the violation on your record.
By the way...the officer doesn't get the money...the state or municipality does! |
