I got arrested for a DUI a few months ago. I'm going to be on ARD with 12 months of probation. I understand that I'm not allowed to drink alcohol, and I heard that I was not allowed in bars at all. I thought I would still be able to socialize in bars as long as I stick to drinking coke or water.
Has anyone been through this? Is that true?

I plan on asking my PO, but I wont meet him or know who he is for another 3 weeks. (My probation starts in 3 weeks). I just get anxious thinking about things like that.

You are correct, you are not allowed in a bar. It is not worth the trouble you will get in if someone sees you there, or calls on you. You can stay out of bars for a year, I did it when I was on probation. After a while, you don't even miss it.
If you violate, you get to go to jail, and it costs you more money. |

stop thinking and start drinking...no don't do that ok your court papers should have all that info things could change when you meet up with your po it's only three weeks what's up with you and bars... |

I'm a PO and our conditions of probation state "you shall not be in a bar or tavern or anywhere where alcohol is sold for consumption on the premises". Your conditions of probation should state whether or not that is an issue. If it doesn't, I would still check with your PO just to be sure. Every jurisdiction is different. |

Scooter gave fairly good advice, but I am gonna tell you that on the paperwork from the courts you have it will most likely say that you can not go to the bar at all even if you refrain from drinking. Now you would have to break the law or be seen by a cop that knows you in order for them to be able to prove you where breaking the conditions of your probation. |

How do you know what you are going to be on, sentencing is still to come, unless you have a plea bargain?
Check with your PO, as s/he will be in-charge of your activities for the next 12 mo.. |

what does ARD stand for? alcohol related dementia? or what??
also, alcohol is not a scheduled substance in the US. it is restricted to people over 21 only. If you are over 21 years of age, the government CANNOT restrict you from drinking.
i do not know where you heard that from... that is ridiculous.
also, alcohol is testable in a drug test for no more than three days. so you can still drink for 18 more days before worrying...
b4 drinking, check with your po.
but seriously, dont drink nd drive. its stupid. blaze nd drive if you must. no drinkin tho |
