I am 15 years old in the United States in Michigan. I really want to change my last name. The last name I got from my biological dad and he "used" me when I was only 2 years old. I don't want to carrie on the name no more. Oh and my mom does not care if I swich my name!!! If possible how much would it cost?

but my real dad wont allow that to happen I have not seen him sence the day he "used" me do I still need him to say yes?

you can change your name with your parents consent. The fees vary from state to state but i think they charge you by the letter. |

If you're not terminating his parental rights, or being adopted by someone else, but are just changing your name, I don't believe he has to give his approval. One parent's signature should be enough.
As for how much it will cost, call your local courts and ask to speak with the Civil Court clerk. That person should be able to help you out by giving you the fees for filing the paperwork. and, she may have the paperwork available for you to just pick up, with instructions, too. |

I'm not sure but I think you have to be 18+, and I think it's a court fee.. a judge has to pronounce you as whatever name you are.
I'm not totally sure so if somebody else has an answer trust them ;) |
