Can I turn someone in for running a stop sign?

I drove around the corner to take my 3yr old to the park while my 1 yr old was napping (she was with us of course, lol) on the way back a car flew right thru the stop sign and almost hit us I had to swerve. Since this is a sort of walled community I followed her and turns out she lives across the street 3 houses down. Can I turn her in? Would it make a difference? I feel like walking over there and telling her hubby next time I see him outside... or should I just vow to have a neighbor I hate for the next 30 yrs or so..lol She also has a small child that she took out of the car when she parked...

I guess it would be a little weird to say something.. it just bugged me that she flew right thru then when I got out of my car she acted like nothing happened. I like to think I can take my kids around the corner in a residential neighborhood without getting them killed. : (

Unless it was witnessed by a police officer, there's nothing that can be done legally. You should, however, speak to this person or her husband. She may be on drugs or drinking, so in the interest of the safety of the child involved, you must come forward and tell someone. She won't get a ticket for it, but she may be more careful knowing that her actions are being noticed.

you could turn her in but nothing would happen, may just try talking to to her......you never know what her reason was.......may be just a mistake....

If this is a repeating occurance, you can request an officer to monitor the insection. You can also bring it to the attention of the home owners association if you have one. And honestly, I do not think there is anything wrong with politely knocking on the door and speaking to them in the yard and mentioning your concern about the safety of yourself and all children due to her wreckless driving in the neighborhood. Sometimes that is all it takes to make someone really think about their actions. Just becareful not to turn it in to a confrontation. Be nice.

Everyone has a bad day sometimes, are you a perfect driver? I know I'm not. Unless you have noticed this woman constantly driving like a mad woman, I'd let it go.

I don't think the police would be able to do anything...because it's your word against hers....

Why would you tell her hubby? If you want to confront someone, confront her directly. Not tattle tale on her to her husband....that is weird.

sorry But you can turn it in but law enforcement will not do NOTHING about it. because it was not done in there presence. In a case like this a police officer will only believe another officer in that case but as a civilian you can report this. The only thing can come out of it he will be looked for on that day and pulled over but wont be ticket for the violation. just warned since they didn't see it them self's. If this happen another day say you didn't report it on the day he or she ran the stop sign they wont even pull him over in this case police will just tell you if you see it happen again give them a call and nothing will happen from there. the reason for this action is so people not meaning you but in general can use it as a tool to get even with people by falsifying reports. so the police only take another officers word for it only to minimize false alarms

Sure you can turn her in but you have to be the one to bring the charge up against her. You will need her tag #, name, address, any other personal info you can get yourself. Understand now that if you do this you will have to testify in court to the facts you state. You could always confront her and talk about what she did and how she would feel if someone did the same thing to her with her child in the vehicle. I personally wouldnt approach her husband about it since she is the offender. If she gets mad at you for this--oh well-- at least she knows that she has good neighbors that care about the welfare of kids and others.
