1. follow you for more than 3 turns ( if i truned more than 3 times randomly and he followed me can he turn his lights on pull me over )
2. see how fast i am traveling while he is on the other side of the road... or if he is driving a few cars behind me.
3. turn his lights on after i pulled into a driveway and parked

I drove past my school going 30 in a 30 he stared at me and then pulled out of the parking lot when he was trying to do a U turn and then followed me... i saw him and then i slowed down to 25 because i knew that the 25 MPH zone was real close... he followed me for more than 3 turns then i stoped and pulled into a friends driveway after that he drove off... was he allowed to follow me like that?

1: A police officer can pretty much follow you as long he or she likes. The police should have probable cause or suspension to conduct this type of “investigation” but anything could have led to the “stalking” A broken tail light, expired tags, cracked windshield, they can come up with anything if asked.
2: With radar and laser technology today the officer could clock you from the other side of the road and in California the CHP does what is called trailing I think, and that is when an officer goes approximately as fast and you and clocks you with his or her own vehicle speedometer. If that is the case, you can request to have a report on when the Speedometer was last calibrated. As well as obtain a report as to when the radar / laser was last calibrated. If it’s been awhile it may help a person in court.
3: The lights can go on at anytime as far as I know.

Yes to everything and double yes to him being able to "turn on his lights after you pull into a driveway and park".
If I had a buck for every DUI driver that drove all the way home after I tried stopping them because for some unknown reason, people think they are home free if they make it to their driveway. They aren't.
And I can turn my lights on anytime, anyplace, you being in a driveway doesn't exempt you from being stopped. |
