Can a Policemen give you a speeding fine if your on private property?

They can give you field sobriety tests in your driveway. Once they see the infraction, they are in "pursuit" until they pull you over.

I am not going to point you to any legislation, but it is true...they can. It is not where the officer tickets you, but where the infraction occurs that is the point. Put another way, if you robbed a store and then went home, do you think the police won't arrest you because you are in your house? That fact that you are on your property does not remove that fact that the infraction occurred. There is no "beat the police home and you are safe" defense for breaking the law.

If you were speeding on a public highway then you can (and probably will receive a ticket) as the offence was on public property ergo a crime. If you were speeding on your drive then no offence woudl have been committed as your driveway is private property.

i believe archangel is correct -

i can't speak for laws in every jurisdiction, but in the case you describe, you would be eligible to receive a ticket. if the offense (speeding) occurred while you were traveling on a public roadway, where the cops pulled you over is irrelevant. they caught you commiting the crime, therefore they can issue the summons.

if this were not the case, every robber, etc. would commit a crime next to someone's private property/a church/a state line/etc. and as soon as they did, they'd dash across the line, etc. and be immune from criminal prosecution.

That is true.If the police catch you speeding,no matter if you are on public property,or private property.My dad is a cop,and he's pulled people over in their own driveway numerous times before.

I'm not 100% but it seems that if you were speeding while on a public road and the police caught u than yes i think they could because it is against the law to speed, they have caught u speeding, they have a right to punish you to the full extent of the law...don't they?
Like i said i'm not 100% sure but that seems logical :)

It depends where the actual violation occurred. We have a huge shopping mall in my city, but it's private property. So we couldn't sit in the lot and run radar. But if we tail someone from the surrounding public streets, we can make the stop on private property, as long as we can prove that you were speeding on public highways. The only thing that quickly pulling onto private property does is it makes it impossible to tow your car if you're taken into custody.

Say the officer was to see you speeding on a crotch rocket.
He pulls up behind you and gets your plate, but you take off and out run him or her.
He can (and will) show up at your house waiting with a ticket. (and a few additional surprises)

The same goes for your situation....if it doesn't make sense, it probably isn't true......keep that in mind when you hear other strange police myths

if a police officer runs the plate and it comes up that the driver is prohibited but its not the registered owner driving and the officer did not see the driver get out of the vehicle,instead comes into the restaruant and asked if the person he saw walking in thru front door of restaraunt is the registered owner,he said no and sited him for no licence and towes the car from the parking lot anyways.the car had tinted windows so he could not see in car before he turned into parking lot and the officer went around the block,did not see anyone get out of car,and by the time the officer came around the block the driver was walking into the front door.officer assumed and made i d after the fact.is this allowed?
