You didn't mention your state, but in Wisconsin the vehicle owner is liable unless they provide the name of the driver:
346.485 Owner's liability for vehicle illegally passing school bus.
The owner of a vehicle involved in a violation of s. 346.48 (1) shall be liable for the violation as provided in this section.
346.485(4)(a)
Within 48 hours after receiving a report containing all the information in sub. (2), the traffic officer may prepare a uniform traffic citation under s. 345.11 and may personally serve it upon the owner of the vehicle.

I'm sure all states have a similar law. |

Sounds legal to me. If the license plate attached to the vehicle and the vehicle is registered to your wife. She's getting a ticket. Think of a red light camera at an intersection. It take a picture of your plate and the agency sends you a ticket. Same thing for the bus. Another thing, when a school bus stops and the STOP sign emerges, you need to stop. There a kids crossing the road. So pay the fine! |

Did you do it? Pay the ticket. |

what happened is totally legal and there is little that you can do about other than pay the fine. since the bus driver copied down the place tag that passed its bus, your wives car, that is who the the ticket was written for. i recommend that you do not pass any more stoped school buses with their red lights flashing and their stop signs out. i hope this helped even thought you probally do not agree with what i am saying. |

You bet they can. They're responsible for precious cargo - our kids - and the cops take them seriously when they report someone who breaks the law.
Pay the fine, and be thankful some child didn't dash out in front of you. |

They were going by the plate number and that is all that is required. They really don't need to identify the driver. So why don't you be a man and admit to it instead of your wife taking the heat. But something isn't right here you say your losing your license for sixty days. So why is your wife getting fined? |

I got one more than 40 years ago. I passed a stopped school bus on a railroad track. The judge was very understanding and didn't fine me or punish me in any way. I have been very careful since then. |

They can and they will. Do you know how many children are killed a year because somebody refused to stop?!? I don't care if it was you or your wife. there is a ticket and somebody ought to pay it. |

yes, but only if he writes down your plate number. |

yes a citizen can swear a complaint against another citizen. they have placed you under citizen arrest. i absolutely would contest it. the penalty goes to the registered owner. she will have to plead not guilty. the bus driver will have to appear ask for a jury trial. deny it to the end. this person will get tired of having to keep appearing. when they do it gets dismissed. usually just by you showing up they downgrade the charge. this not only is a fine loss of lic. but 4 or more points on your lic. and at least that many insurance points which you will be charged for for 3 years. if you have any points on you drivers lic. or you get a major speeding ticket you could lose your lic. for 6 months or a year. so it is definitely worth 1,2,3 times to court to fight it. its a pain in the azz but how much of an inconvenience would it be if you or your wife lose your drivers lic. for 6 months. you'll never hear the end of it. most people drive while suspended and that is a criminal offense. what would she say when you go to bail her out for something you did? fight it!!!!!! |

If it's illegal yes. Bus drivers go through rigorous traning and testing to obtain a CDL, you went through a few months of driver's ed? A little kindergarter that you might not have seen could have been crossing the road and if you didn't stop, I don't think it would turn out well. Why would you assume you wouldn't get fine? Most drivers will turn you in, because next time you could've killed a child. All of the drivers in our fleet do. It's not illegal, what you did was illegal. Stop griping and be happy you aren't fined with the death of an innocent child crossing the road going home. |

absolutely fight it, because i can guaruntee that you will win. no realistic judge will let that slide. i had a similar situation when i was driving a car registered to my mother and she got a ticket sent to her in the mail from a day i was driving so she went to court and the cop threw out the caase before it even went infront of a judge because they knew we would win. |

tickets like any other court summons requires it to be delivered
by a official court appointed person...
postman isn't one of these people..
same as the photo cops...
ignore it.. and unless someone comes to your door or place of work
to hand you a subpoena in person.. its a joke..
the courts have no proof you received the notice
they are hoping you appear on your own |
