Yes, but only with a governor's pardon. You need to go to your state department website and they will have materials on the pardon, when it is granted and what rights it restores. You will find that a governors pardon will help you with the state prohibition of possessing a firearm, then you will need to discover what effect a state pardon has on the federal ban. You see, your uncle is being prohibited from owning a firearm by two separate governments and laws.
He would not be able to transfer a gun to his name. Possession, with respect to guns, is a loosely defined term that can mean actual, legal or constructive possession. If he is caught with having any kind of possession, he will be charged with an additional felony. |

No, if you have been convicted of a felony you may never own, posess or be in control of any firearm.
If you have been convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence you are also barred from the actions listed above |

Federal law prohibits a convicted felon from owning any type of fire arm. He is also prohibited from barrowing or using someone elses fire arm. It is illegal for him to touch a gun. |

It is illegal under federal law for a felon to own, purchase, or obtain a firearm. However, some states have virtually non-existent enforcement of this rule, so he may be able to get it. However, if he is caught he will be in trouble. |

Armed robbery? Why, this is exactly the kind of person I would WANT to be able to obtain a firearm very easily and without question. There is no justice in this world! |

Armed robbery, no way. This I know from working at a gun store. During the waiting period (I'm asuming your in the USA) that'll come up as huge red flag and If pretty much every state he'll be turned down.
Of course, nothing is stopping him from just looking in the classifieds and buying one there. Or some pawn shops don't do checks. |

KaptKos and Bear are idiots. If you have been convicted of a felony you may vote as long as you petition the judge to re-instate your rights. However you may never own a firearm of any kind. You do not need a pardon from the governor or the president to be able to vote. You must simply write a letter to the judge that sentenced you and ask for your rights to be re-instated! |

Of course he can't get a firearm. A convicted felon usually can't even own any type of weapon. |

And they cannot vote; therefore, they cannot try to pass legislation to change the law that prevents them from owning a firearm. Thank goodness!!! |

A convicted felon is not allowed to possess a firearm in any state. Even though your uncle has served his debt to society, he was convicted. Whether he was convicted 25 years ago or 25 minutes ago, with that conviction he lost several rights firearms for one and voting is another.
There is one long and expensive shot he can try and pursue. Contact a lawyer and have his conviction expunged. There is no guarantee it will be allowed but that is the only way for him to be able to do it. And it will have to come from the Governor or the President. Only a full pardon will get him all of his rights back. |

anyone who has a felon on their record cannot get a firearm.. That is one of the questions they ask in the paper work when buying a gun. |

I've been researching myself for my own personal reasons, I was convicted of a drug charge at age 20 I'm 33 now and I can't own a gun but one thing everybody's wrong about is that you can Vote as long as your not on probation or parole....so please vote!!! |
