Can a cop radar the speed of your car while his car is in motion?

A cop pulled me over tonight at 2am. First of all, I saw this cop behind me from the moment i got onto the highway. He blazes past me probably going like 70. Then i catch up to him down the road, 2 mins later, and he pulls me over. He said that i was driving behind him at 83mph. How can you radar another car if your car is in motion? Also one of the cops refused to give me his name and badge number and threatened me. As well there is a mistake on the ticket, It says 2pm instead of 2 am. Do you think I can beat this?

I live in Puerto Rico which means that the technology that the cops use are probably third rate pieces of crap that fell out of the back of the truck

Not sure what state you are in but some cop cars have a radar on the back. Where I used to live they had cop cars with radars on the back and they had a monitor on the dash that they can look at and see the speed of the person behind them.
But, You can probably beat it. They are supposed to give a name and badge number upon request and mistakes on tickets aren't accepted. It's cop say civilian say. Know what I mean? Was there someone else with you, a witness?
They should have it recorded on their dash cam so you can prove something if they try to lie, it happens. If they say that it was 2pm not 2am, say look at the dash cam, it will show the dark and show everything else, plus sound.

yes...it's funny how advanced computers are...they can actually measure the cops speed and send out a radar signal which bounces off your car and then returns to the radar device. then this nifty calculation is performed wherein the computer takes the cop car's speed and is able to assertain your speed by using a handy dandy little algorithm. In other words, you're screwed.

take it to court and explain all of this, except maybe leave out the speeds at which you were both travelling. if they threatened you and made a mistake, then the ticket is probably worthless.

yes they have advanced radars which they can set based on their own speed and calculates your speed while their car is in motion. I got a warning on a road trip to California an i was doing 57 in a 55 construction zone after i slowed down from 60 MPH at 2:30 am

Radar can work even if the police car is moving.
You may be able fight theticket on the technical issue of time of issue if it consistently say 2 pm and you have an alibi proving you weren't even on the road at 2 pm.

Yes they can. If you look closely on a police car, you'll see one or two small, white circles on the dash and in the back. It's called moving radar. They can tell how fast you are going in both directions. Plus, they are trained to calculate speed just with their eyes. Both are legal ways of speed watching.

I have no idea what goes down in Puerto Rico but here, our traffic units have radar detectors in the front and back of their cars. Also a small technicality like time/date etc.., means nothing to the validity of the ticket. It is still very valid and you can not win in court based on this.

RADAR GUNS ARE SET UP TO SHOOT YOUR CAR THEN SUBTRACT THE MILEAGE OF THE POLICE CAR. IF HE PASSED YOU AT 70 AND THEN YOU CAUGHT UP 2 MINUTES LATER, YOU WERE SPEEDING. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO BEAT IT ON A TECNICALITY BUT I WOULDNT BATOHER BRINGING UP THE OTHER COP. ITS YOUR WORD AGAINST HIS AND 99% OF THE TIME THE JUDGE IS GONNA SIDE WITH THE COP.
