Hello! I was on my way home today, just driving along with traffic going about 37mph like I do everyday. I pull up to a stop and I see a bunch of cars lined up in a parking lot on the right. The next thing I know, I'm being flagged over, not pulled over by a cop car. I had no idea what was going on. Finally, I realize that I'm being flagged down to have a citation given to me along with 10 other cars. The cop comes to my window, asks for the license registration & insurance. I ask him nicely for what officer? He said speeding. I said really, where was I speeding and where is the officer that caught me speeding? He said, right there(almost next to him) I said, well how did he record my speed by standing there? He said with a radar gun.
This irritated me. How can he being a half a mile away tell what car is going what speed when there are 10 vehicles pulled over? How can that be accurate?
I thought, local police in PA(only state like this) do not have the right to use a radar?
Final question, Can they actually have an assembly line of cars being pulled over at the same time for the same offense? I cannot see the accuracy in this!
Someone please help!

*This occurred during rush hour with many vehicles on the road.

Those traffic details are usually the result of citizen complaints.
The officer doing the clocking radios ahead the make, model, and color along with the plate to the officer ahead. That officer stops the person and writes a ticket based on the first officer's observations.
Based on the description you gave and the amount of cars, I suspect you were clocked on laser. The beam on a laser is quite narrow, so it can easily identify a single car when others are present. |

Yes, they can do that. However, that is what court is for. If you feel you would like to contest the ticket, follow the instructions on the citation and appear in court. |

All of your arguments as to whether he can are invalid. Yes, the officer can do that.
The only question is whether or not you were speeding. If so pay the ticket. If not fight it. |

Yes, they can pull over 100 people this way, it's quite common. Second, what was the limit? 25? And you were doing 37. So you were speeding.
Third, he doesn't need a radar gun to tell you were speeding. Cops are thoroughly trained in detecting the speed a car is going. So whether or not he was using radar is immaterial. You did it. You have zero case.
You seem like a nice person. Pay it off and go to traffic school and it won't be on your record, but if you fight it and lose, which you will, you will have court costs on top of your fines and you can't go to TS. |

Same thing happened to me!
They were obviously performing a traffic saturation, which is what they did with us. There was a pack of 14-16 of us on the interstate and we all were pulled over and ticketed as a pack. There's nothing illegal about that.
The accuracy is in the radar gun. You can request to see the radar reading when you are pulled over - but if you don't see it right then, there is no longer that evidence available to you. Radar guns have come a lonnnnngggggg way!
