No she cannot be 'forced' to testify against her husband but if she is willing to testify against her husband she may do so.

Communication between 'spouses' is considered like doctor patient privilege. But They are allowed to testify about anything else.

I am not an expert in spousal privilege, but from what I remember: A spouse cannot be compelled to testify against another on a statement made in confidence, unless they were in a conspiracy together to commit a crime

I really don't think they can. There's a name for it but i can't remember. It's called a Marital privilage or something to that affect.

Generally no, all communication between husband and wife is what is called "Spousal Privilege" which essentially states you can't force a wife to testify against her husband.

However, there is an exception to the rule. If the wife has been physically abused by the husband, some states have placed it as law that, in that case, the wife can be compelled to testify.

See http://www.mobar.org/journal/1999/sepoct/rold.htm for more on that subject.

I dont think they can be forced to testify about private conversations (just like priests or doctors, etc.) but can be forced to testify about things they have seen or observed

No...but she can be subpoenaed to go to court. And she has to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...

Nobody can be FORCED to testify against anybody. They can be subpenaed, but we have the right to plead the fifth amendment of the constitution.
