Can a you compare bite impressions in a photo to the real deal? Is a bite a felony?

Recently my home was broken into and I was assaulted. The detectives came and took pictures and I did as well. Now the biter is trying to claim they never bit me. Will the courts be able to compare the bites in the picture to an impression if it comes to that?

Skin is pliable and stretches, so the marks may not match even if they are compared to the correct person.

Breaking into a house and assaulting someone would be a felony.

Biting is assault, It may or may not be a felony, depending on additional factors. Assuming the police photos are sufficiently clear and properly scaled, they can be compared to an impression. It is difficult to determine if a match can be shown.

EDIT: I missed the breaking in part. Yes, that is a felony in most cases.
