Can bouncers confiscate your id?

No they are not of a legal authority, they can take it and if they feel that you are not valid, they can refuse you entry into the club. They only way they can take your id is if they are law enforcement.

No.They can't take your ID, they can HOLD it.Why? Because people are getting to the point where they make FAKE ID'S all the time.If they feel the need, they may ask can they hold you ID for minuute and check your status!

No they can't take your Driving Licence (even if you did mis-spell it) or anything else from you unless it's obviously a weapon.

Any attempt to do so would be theft. If they tried to take it from you by force it would be assault at the very least and possibly GBH. You should report their behaviour to the nearest police station and they'll build up a file of these people's mis-behaviour (basically, they're bullying).

If enough Members of the Public complain then the police will take action against the bully boys - but they do need the public's co-operation.

Only police officers or other authorised officials (and 'private' security, bouncers, doormen etc. are NOT included) may confiscate anything of yours.
Airport and railway security can confiscate things and even detain you so don't be cheeky to them.

No they can't, if they do it's theft. Report them and make a case of it, then they'll think twice before pulling rank. Even if they think it's a fake they must give it back and refuse entry.

Yes they can, if there is an honest belief that you would go to the next club and present it as proof of age.
In your case the doorman has mistaken your id for a forgery and had an honest belief he was doing the right thing. His mistake would have been not to hand it in to the nightclub boss, thus rendering you unable to claim it back. However it sounds like you never handed it over.

No they can't, but then again if the ID is fake, I guess they can. I hope you got yours back from them when they realise it's genuine.
