I have a chronic pain condition known as RSD/CRPS and I take strong pain meds to control the intense pain. I don't like to carry around the bottle of pills because if they are lost I can't get more. I keep 1-2 days worth on me in a small unmarked pill bottle. I have the paperwork from the pharmacy stating what the pills look like, what they are, and that they are prescribed to me. Can I get arrested for possession even though my meds are 100% legit?

ADDED: They are Percocet 10/325 I am also on the Fentanyl patch. I do not drive very often, but I have been on opiod medicines for years, and I am not impared in any way. It's funny I have never gotten a "high" from them. Maybe it's because I am always in so much pain? All they do for me is take the edge off so I can function. Without them I can't get out of bed. This is a nerve condition and it basically feels like I am burning 24-7 (like scalding water down to the bone) there are other symptoms too, but the pain is the only really debilitating one.

If an officer discovers the pills on you without a valid prescription, he is empowered to take you into custody until he can determine that you have the pills legally.

Yeah they can take your meds right then and there. All you have to do is take Your prescription with you to court & everything will be dropped & I assume be given back to you? Last part not 100% sure about. Hope that helped. |
