Can cops beat people up off duty ?

what you done was wrong. you spread vicious lies about her and it may have devistated her. iam sure this guy loves his baby girl 1000 times more than he loves his job. cop or no cop, there is some lines you just dont cross with another man. sounds to me like he is a "father on fire" i doubt that he will kill you, but it wouldnt take much for him to break your face in either. if i were you, i would leave town till this cools down.

ONLY picked your nose and passed gas 3 or 4 times? You sound like a winner... It involves his daughter so it is very much his business, BTW. A cop is a cop 24/7 so any confrontation you have with him is bound to be a losing proposition for you. I'd suggest steering clear. What could you possibly hope to achieve?

Well, if you mean do they possess the right to use force while off-duty, then yes, they do... they can do their "job" anytime - on duty or off duty - but the right to use force is bound by the same limits as when they are on the job. (Meaning, they are supposed to be conducting law enforcement at the time, not just kicking your punk *** for the hell of it.) Now, would I blame him for wanting to kick your ***, probably not. Do I think you can get him in trouble at work? Doubtfully. His friends won't turn on him over this... they'll join in in kicking your *** too!

Let's see, if you are under the age of 18 he might be able to sue your parents for your defamation of character and slander, unless the girl did give you crabs, if you are over 18 he may have the grounds to sue you personally.

A parent is legally responsible for their child's willful misconduct.

Cops can not beat up people even when on duty and a cop is technically on duty if he witnesses a crime, that is why they all carry concealed weapons.

I doubt that this man is going to risk his career to beat your @ss though it sounds to me like you deserve it, my guess is that he wants to have a talk (maybe a yell) at you for spreading rumors about his daughter.

My question to you is if she was a SKANK, why did you go out with her and when you said that when you passed gas that was total crap, what was it GAS or CRAP.

If I were faced with this same situation, I would apologize to her and her father, after all you said that you were drunk when you made the remarks, be a man and own up to your mistakes.

It is between you and her, but you did bad mouth his little girl and dads sometimes step in to correct a wrong done on his little girl. I would apologise to her and make it sound like you really mean it ( even if you don't ) then stop the childish trashing people. Haven't you learned that if you can talk the talk then you better be able to walk the walk, Well your at the walk the walk part, you could probably get him in trouble if he beats the s**t out of you but then you would have to watch over your back for a long time or leave the county, he is a cop stupid, he has ways of finding you and friends on the force if you spit on the sidewalk you'll get a ticket, jay walk across the street he's got you again, pulled over for tag light out or any other small thing he will make you miserable. APOLOGISE then move on with your life and keep your mouth shut.

Cops do not "beat people up." Ever. They respond to situations created by ignorant people and sometimes need to use force to control the situation.
