Can cops taze a person under 18?

Like the officers in this answer stated, yes officers can use a taser if they see a threat.

Now, with that said if the officers break procedure and/or use it unecessarily and it can be proven the officer could face suspension and possible expulsion or even a suit against the city or the department from the parents of the child.

In this case, the officer was given a lecture for using the taser on a 12 year old girl.

But the bill did not pass. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

You can legally taser anyone that is a threat. Age does not matter.

It would not be practical to ask a person to stop his attack and show you and ID.

Yes. They will not stop and ask for ID and verify it before they taze. The police can shoot, tazer, pepper spray anyone who has it coming to them ;-)

The point of a tazer is to not use deadly force. If the police feel that force is necessary, they cannot be expected to start checking ID. They can, and should, use the tazer.

Age has little to no bearing on the application. Its the actions of the individual that is the primary consideration of any use of force application.

anyone can be tasered by the cops. the problem is not the age of a person but, why they would give the cops reason to taser them.

personally, i'd rather get tasered than shot and i thank God that the taser exists.
