Can drug dogs smell drugs such as ecstasy that are in a pill form?

I think if they were trained to find a particular drug(i.e. Ecstasy) then yes, but I'm not sure that is part of the routine training. I know they are trained to find Narcotics, marijuana, and even some others .... but have never heard of them finding Ecstasy. I have a friend that runs a drug dog, I will ask and get back to you....... After speaking to the expert, I was told that yes they definetely can as long as the dog is trained for that particular drug. I was told that Ecstasy has a very distinct sweet smell and is very easy to find whether in pill, liquid, or powder form. Each dog is trained for certain drugs, usually 4 or 5 or sometimes more. They aren't actually trained to find drugs, but to find a toy that has a particular scent(i.e. marijuana, etc.) and when they do "hit" on a drug the officer has to find it and then the dog will get his toy as a reward. Every time a drug hits the streets, they train the dogs to find them. Unless they're up your butt, drug dogs can't detect anything through human feces. And the more that you can fit up there, the less likely they can smell them.

Yes dog can smell the drugs ecstasy or any other drugs people try to hide. You dogs have a more keener smell than humanes. I think that is a good things. Dogs are great help to the law enforement.

As long as the drug is seal within a polyurethane container, and the exterior of the container as not come in contact with the drug or drug handler, the answer is no.

Most will not be trained for this, most work mostly with coke and pot and a few others. A dog could be but most likely arenot.

if they are trained to. each drug dog is trained for different scents. training a dog on too many scents will burn him or her out. most are trained to smell marijuana, coke and heroin.
