I live in Iowa and i am 15. I obtained an i pod when i found it laying in the middle of a gas station parking lot. I then gave it to my friend to charge since i currently did not have a charger. He then gave it to someone else who claimed that they lost it. She claimed that they were screwing off as they walked to the gas station to give it back to me and ripped the pocket on her coat. I believed them until recently when she (slipped i guess) and said that she ripped her coat on a shingle. I then asked her about it 3 hours later and she said she started the cut on a nail and then my guy friend ripped it more. I want my i pod back. I talked to the principal and he talked to her and she told him that she didnt have it either. Can i press theft charges so I can at least either get it back or atleast get something out of it?

Not much point. Besides it's not like you bought it or someone bought it for you, you found in in a parking lot. So if you want to get technical you could be considered a thief also because someone may have come back for it and it not been there cause you took it, when the right thing to do was to take it to the police station. |

You can sue her in a small claims court, if it is worth your trouble. |

Maybe, but I wouldn't bother. You really don't have any evidence to substantiate your claims and it's going to be WAY more hassle than it's worth.
At the same time, the right thing for her to do would be to replace it as she is the one that lost it. |
