i dropped out of school because i had to take care of my grandmother she is old and she is my guardian i am now 19 and her sister now takes care of her i was going to get my ged but to me there is no point here in california you can go to community college without a ged or hsd as long as you are 18 or older i want to become an officer and i was wondering will a police department hire me even if i am a high school drop out but i will have a assocaites degree in criminal justice and if i get hired i am going to go for my bachelors o and my credit is normal no criminal history at all i have had only one job for 2 years and i am still working there i also plan on going through the cadet program do i have a high chance at getting hired

You should be fine. Check out the websites of police departments of different cities or areas under Jobs/Careers and then Qualifications/Eligibility. LAPD says a good candidate may substitute a 2-yr degree for the high school diploma/GED requirement. Good luck becoming one of CA's finest!

I would say that yes you can still become a cop. I would suggest getting a degree. I would also recommend simply going to your local staion and talking to officers. They would be be the best people to speak to and they are likely nice enough to hand you right to the person who would hire you. Stay out of trouble thats number one
