He has no right. Anyone can park in front of his house. Let him get you towed once. You can then charge him and the towing company with stealing your car. That will get rid of him and the towing company.
BTW: Will my "No Dogs" sign on my sidewalk be of any help to me? |

No he can not. it would be different if he put the sign up in his own driveway or a lot that he owns but he can not do that on a public road. |

...no,he or she can't.It is a public steet and he could hav a problem for posting a sign on public property without permission.Any police officer will tell them the same thing...first come first serve. |

Wow. Even I want to know the answer to this one. I suspect, since it's a public road, he cannot legally put up a no parking sign. If you do not get the right answer here on YA, I suggest going to your local law enforcement and asking them, if not taking action against your neighbor. |

Sure. He can put a sign up, but it is not enforceable. A private citizen has no control over who parks in front of their house, on a public street. The person who put up the sign is just hoping that the sign will scare people away. Nice try on his part. |

Your additional vehicle is violating the parking space meant for someone else. You may have to take permission from the apartment complex for the additional vehicle. Sometimes they grant you spaces not used by anyone else.
Like an extra parking spaces. |

THE SORCE WOULD BE CITY ORDINANCE!..depending on street size, traffic flow rates,..before you involve the police.you should ask your appt. manager..about extra parking...to many complaints and you will get kicked out,not a property owner!,,,,,,,be very careful on who and how you ask! |

No, I don't think he has the right to do that, unless he has a court order stating that it is ok to put a sign there. |

No he can not put up a LEGAL "No Parking" Sign. He also can not have the car towed away unless the car us blocking HIS Driveway. Even then, He must notify the Local Police Department before he does it. Depending on the Local Police Procedures, they will tell him to go ahead and tow the car, or they will send a Patrol Car to check on the problem. |

Almost all public roads have a "right of way" on the shoulder.
Nothing can be built on the right of way and no individual can tell you not to park there. If the city puts up a no parking sign thats a different story, but your neighbor is just trying to bully you into doing what he wants. If he ever had a car towed he would be in big trouble. Next time he yells at someone, call the cops. They'll tell him what hes doing is wrong. |

He has no say over what parks where on a public street. If you're blocking his driveway or his egress (route in and out) he can call a tow truck to have the vehicle removed. No one can block someone else from coming into their property.
Make sure your company isn't parking on his lawn, you know how some people pull up on the grass if it's a narrow road? Then he would have a right to complain. His property rights end at the curb. |

you say its an apartment complex, which is private property, he can put up whatever sign he wants, but it means nothing to no one. |

He can put the sign up but I doubt that it is enforceable. Unless it is a private parking space, I think that a tow company and the city would just disregard his attempts to enforce his sign on public property. They'd just make him take it down. I would contact your local Department of Public Safety or whomever regulates the roads in your town (ours would be SF DPS) and ask them. (For your neighbor to be able to restrict parking on a public roadway, he would have to have an agreement from the city that he could do so. Either he would buy the spot from the city or he could get the spot "zoned" for private parking (like in front of churches) -- all of these are far-reaching and he'd likely not have done this prior to putting up his sign). |

He can get them towed but he can't put up a sign and have the law enforce it. He doesn't work for the government so he can't make laws like that.
EDIT: How on earth am I getting thumbs down? He can get any car towed but he can't put that sign up and have it enforced. The car can get towed if it's conflicting with something. My business had a car parked sideways in it's drivethru so we got it towed. It's legal. |

No. He has to consult the governmment first before doing that. He has no right to do that because the land doesn't belong to him it belongs to the government. |

If it is a public road he cannot put up his own sign. He can petition the town or city to errect a sign.
Current policy allows municipalities to post No Parking Zones on their streets or state-designated highways without approval after the municipality has conducted a traffic and engineering study. . The No Parking Zone must be established by a municipal ordinance and posted with official signs purchased from an approved sign manufacturer |

No, he can't enforce it or get the vehicle towed either if it's on a public road. If he has it towed I believe he would be responsible for the costs since it is not his vehicle or in violation of the law.
I would contact the local Police and ask them. They would be able to better assist you and may even talk to him - or help be a mediator between you.
Good luck. |
