Can police remove son from parents house?

My mates having a rough time at the moment. He doesn't really get on with his parents and they threaten to get get the police to come in the house and remove him but he has nowhere really to go. So he would be left on the street. He is only 17, is this really allowed to happen?

Well we live in cheshire, so obviously housing benifit wont cover a house or anything, i dont think it would even cover a room.
I was just shocked if the police can actually just remove someone from their own home and leave them in the street!

you could take him in maybe? My mate didn't get on with her parents and decided to live with her ebst friend's family. Your choice though

The cut off point is 16. He is an adult now in the eyes of some laws. All laws in Scotland. As a parent myself i would have no hesitiation in throwing him out if he didn't stick to the house rules. He's a big boy now and either tows the line or gets a council flat.

does he want to live with his parents, are they any good for him or pain. if not good he can call the council (town Hall) and find out how can he leave the house for rehousing and if he s a student or without job, what is the financial situation for him? they might pay for his housing and give him a weekly benefit as well, and he can then rely on himself away from trouble. He is 17 not young, so he will move out oneday or another.

they can, but they wont since it's a domestic incident, they dont usually get too much involved unless there is violence involved.

The parents are responsible for him. I don't know what the laws are in your area. If it is legal for them to remove him they might put him in a foster care facility or home.

They can but they won't. They will attempt to defuse to situation and only remove you friend if they feel the situation will become physical.

In UK he is not a child by law and though the parents can ask him to leave and take legal action to do so the police are not allowed to remove him unless he is committing an offence when they can arrest him.For the police to throw him out would be illegal eviction and they would be liable to prosecution by the local authority.

In most places in the US, a 17 year old is still the parents responsiblity and they will not remove him from the home unless the 17 year old poses a danger to the parents and they find placement for him.
