Can police search apartment with... the apartment complex's manager's approval, after all, you are renting, not owning it.

btw I am 15 and don't own 1... just curious

No, they can not give consent. They have no right to allow entry to the apartments unless it is an emergency. |

no it's your apt and they need a warrant. Also FYI your landlord/manager can't just unlock your door and walk in, it's considered trespassing. Doesn't matter that they're the owner, you're the legal occupant and they can't just walk into your home like that. |

That's the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. It says nothing about the consent of the Landlord.

No the owner of the apartment complex can not give consent to search your apartment. You are the one with an expectation of privacy not the owner. Be advised that if you have a live in girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband they could give consent.
A hotel manager or owner could give consent to search your hotel room once you check out or give up your rights to the room (i.e. skip out without paying). While you are renting the room you are the one that has to consent to a search.

You need a search warrant to conduct the search, unless there is reasonable and probable grounds at the time the officer/s involved are there. |

Probably only if it specifically states it in your lease.
I know some leases state that you must allow the owner (or manager acting as an agent of the owner) to inspect the premises at any time (so they can make sure you're not trashing the place). It seems logical that they could extend this via an extra term in the lease stating that you give consent for law enforcement to search the apartment with the owner's approval as well. |
