Can someone who has had a criminal history be a cop?

my friend has had 1 felony forgery and 2 misdemeanors, none violent or drug related,but has been thinking about becoming a cop, can she?
she wants to eventually be on like, a drug task force or forensics
i keep telling her that it might not work,because of her criminal history, she hasnt been in trouble for years <10> but would she still have a chance??

Expunged or not... any Felony conviction and you are out. She has no chance what so ever.

She needs to plan on a new career and forget about this.

I doubt it, I am in the National Guard and I just got arrested a couple days ago for pety larsony(SI?) and my sgt told me I may not be able to be military police like I wanted.

He can't be law enforcement with a felony. That's the simple answer.

Go to the police force website and check to see what the requirements are to join the police force. That's the best place to go, to their job opportunity site. And maybe schedule an appointment to talk to their HR department and go through a prescreen.

had a record, yet they were cops, attns, and real judges. yes
for lessor crimes, not if felonies. or major crimes..

Human Kind has made a mistake.But this mistake can't continue throughout his life unless something wrong.
So what can i say is, it is possible. The person, which is described in the question, made a mistake one time.What we ask him or others and what we follow is, is that person improved? learn from that mistake? change his life?...& related questions.
If we answer this postively, nothing can limit to be what he wants.

Next time find out the answer before you discourage your friend. I'm not sure if you can be a cop if you have a criminal history, but I'm sure that some cops are criminals.

look at all the DC cops who were thugs and drugdealers, anything is possible, they are worse than the criminals they arrest, sin ce they need criminals to help them arrest bigger ones, its a game. I don't think felonys can be expunged, but believe me, cops are the biggest law breakers out there, in all areas, not just speeding, killing innocent people, setting people up, using addicted people to set up others, its a very sick field.
