Can the police kick you out of a parking lot for skating?

i have been skating in a best buy and office max parking lot (behind the stores so its just one huge parking lot with no traffic and no people) and there is a apartment complex right across from it. A lady has complained to me about the noise that my board makes and threatened to call the cops if i dont stop. (this was our first encounter too!) And i was just wondering if she did call the cops, could they do anything? Since it isn't the apartments property.

You don't see many a mall or shopping area without a no skating/boarding notice posted somewhere on the property. Once posted and you are skating you are technically trespassing. A chase out is not only authorized but is doing you a favor instead of an arrest. (someone from the shopping area would have to sign the complaint, not the neighbor lady)
As far as a noise or disturbance complaint goes it is up to the officer to determine if you are in fact making to much noise or creating a disturbance. Who owns the property makes no difference. Even if it was your own property your neighbor could make a ticketable or arrestable complaint if your actions were excessive.

Yes, they can. Most retailers will not give permission for you to skate on their property for liability reasons. Many of the stores in my area have letters on file at our department, giving us permission to tell people to leave if we feel it necessary.

In addition, if you are skating late at night, your city probably has a noise ordinance. If you can be heard by the apartments across the street, you could be in violation.

Yep, all the lady has to do is call Office Max and tell them you are there skating. They don't want sued when you break a leg.

yes they can. it is private property and if you even make a small scratch on anything you could be charged with destruction of property and they would get you for loitering. also on the appartment u would also get charged for trespassing.

Skating, like riding a pushbike on the pavement, is not allowed in most places.
