Can the police search your glove box or trunk if they are locked?

They can if they ask permission and you grant it. Or they can if they have probably cause. Or they can when they impound the car and have to "inventory" the contents.

Probably not without a warrant. Be advised they can make you sit there while they get one. There also has to be a thing such as probable cause which is largely ignored by those enforcing the lawy of the land.

They need to ask your permission. If you deny it, they will bring in a dog to see what the dog can detect and they will get a search warrant if they suspect that anything is unusual.

Depends on the situation If they are Impounding they have the right to "inventory" the car to protect themselves so you can't come back on them and say you are missing something from your car at a later date. Another situation is if they suspect drugs are in the car and they call for a K-9 unit,and the dog alerts on something then they have a right to search. But it all boils down to two words "Probable Cause"

I think it depends on what country you are in. A friend of mine said in her country that was not allowed. But I know in other countries, it is allowed.

Be default police are not allowed to search your car unless they have probable cause. Often with younger people the police officer will ask if its ok to look around your car. If you say no that gives them cause to get a warrant. My best advise keep clean and don't give them cause to search you.

if they have "probable cause" yes they can. (if they smell/see drugs, if a dog alerts to drugs, if you are acting under the influence).

If you don't want them to, you can adamently refuse, and they can take you to jail instead.

Technically they need probable cause, a warrant, or your consent. But as someone else has already pointed out, they will do what they want to do and make up a reason later.

Refusal to allow search is not legal grounds for a warrant. But you can bet that if you refuse, they will suddenly discover probable cause.

Yes they can ,,, you could refuse for them to do that, but then they could also detain you in jail until they got a search warrant and would still search it.. So either comply with them or basically you suffer in the end hope this helps you
